Relieving Chiropractic Care Relief of McHenry Leg Pain Right or Left
Right leg. Left leg. Sciatica (aka leg pain) will affect either leg (and sometimes both). McHenry chiropractic care at OrthoIllinois Chiropractic helps decrease leg pain and focuses on the spinal source of the sciatica at the same time. OrthoIllinois Chiropractic leads McHenry leg pain and back pain patients to pain relief with chiropractic care.
SCIATIC LEG PAIN: Right Leg or Left Leg
You’ve heard of right-handed people and left-handed people, right? Yes! Did you know that the left leg grows longer in right-handed people and the right leg grows longer in left-handed people? Not 100% of the time, but research documents this differeence. Bearing this in mind, it is not surprising that there are more people with longer left legs (53%) than right legs (39%). Incredibly, only 8% of people have equal leg lengths. (1) What role does that play in which leg will have radiculopathy? Discs will bulge into the concavity of the curve due to a variety of issues like uneven stresses on the anulus of the disc. The concavity of the spinal curve is on the long leg side. A right-handed person with a long left leg will likely experience leg pain on the left side. Another interesting point: hip pain often occurs on the long leg side, too: 88.9% long leg vs 11.1% short leg. Sciatica, too: 78.5% arises on the long leg side and 21.5% on the short leg side. (2,3) Your McHenry chiropractor can spot a short leg pretty easily by checking three things: iliac crest, the verticality of the spine, and levelness of the posterosuperior iliac spine dimples. Researchers stated that there is a strong relationship between visual and xray measurements. (4) Trust your McHenry chiropractor to find a short leg…and take care of any related disc herniation causes of pain!
DISC HERNIATION RE-ABSORPTION WITH NON-SURGICAL CARE
A new study reported on 75 cases of ruptured lumbar disc herniation. 46 of the 75 cases experienced leg pain radiculopathy: 46 cases on the left and 29 on the right. (Makes sense now, right?) At 5 years post- non-surgical treatment, a “reabsorption” phenomenon was noted. The excellent and good rate of disc reabsorption was 73.24%. (5) OrthoIllinois Chiropractic provides pain easing non-surgical care of McHenry leg pain and back pain.
RELIEF FOR McHenry LEG PAIN and BACK PAIN
And then recall the new paper regarding the benefits of chiropractic maintenance care: Maintenance care decreases the number of days of pain in acute back pain episodes and increases the length of pain-free periods between recurrent back pain episodes of persistent back pain. (6) OrthoIllinois Chiropractic is here for those back pain and leg pain patients looking for fewer days with back and leg pain and those who would like to live life with fewer periods of leg and back pain.
